Lymphogranuloma venereum (LGV)
Canadian Guidelines on Sexually Transmitted Infections - Lymphogranuloma venereum (LGV)
- Extremely rare in Canada - no reported cases in Alberta in the last 20 years.
- Only test for LGV if syphilis and HSV negative and epidemiologic exposure (i.e. appropriate travel history or contact with a traveler).
- In patients with LGV, test for other STIs including HIV, gonorrhea, hepatitis B & C.
- Treat regardless of clinical signs/symptoms all recent (60 days) sexual contacts with:
- Azithromycin 1g PO single dose, or
- Doxycycline 100mg PO bid x 7 days
