- Gram negative bacilli nonfermenter - rounded ends (fastidious)
Clinical Significance
This organism is part of oral/nasal flora of dogs and cats.
It is associated with bite wounds (mostly dogs), septicemia, meningitis, tenosynovitis, and pneumonia (following dog/cat bite or exposure).
Usual Susceptibility Pattern
This organism is usually susceptible to penicillin/ampicillin and quinolones.
It is resistant to aminoglycosides and colistin and has variable susceptibility to TMP/SMX and tetracyclines.
