Infants 1 - 3 months
- Hospitalization is recommended if:
- < 6 months old with suspected bacterial pneumonia
- respiratory distress and hypoxemia
- complicated pneumonia (parapneumonic effusions, multilobar disease, abscesses/cavities, necrosis, empyema, pneumothorax or bronchopleural fistula, or hematogenously acquired pneumonia)
- suspected CA-MRSA
- careful observation/follow-up at home cannot be ensured.
