Secondary prophylaxis may be considered in high risk patients: ascitic fluid protein <10-15g/L plus at least one of:

• bilirubin > 30mg/L
• platelets < 98 x 10⁹/L
• serum creatinine >100µmol/L
• sodium ≤130mmol/L
• Child-Pugh score ≥ 9 points.
