Adult Dosing Recommendations in Hepatic Impairment
The effect of hepatic dysfunction on drug clearance depends on several factors: degree of protein binding, hepatic blood flow, hepatic extraction ratio, whether the drug undergoes Phase I or Phase II metabolism, and degree to which other routes of metabolism/elimination compensate.
Unless otherwise stated, recommendations are for dosage adjustments in cases of severe hepatic dysfunction caused by cirrhosis.
For dosage adjustment in renal impairment, see Adult Dosing Recommendations in Renal Impairment.
