Usual Pathogen

Talaromyces marneffei (formerly Penicillium marneffei)

 

- Thermally dimorphic fungi endemic throughout southeast Asia, northern Thailand, Vietnam, Myanmar, Hong Kong, Taiwan, southern China, northeastern India.

- HIV is a major risk factor – causes opportunistic infections including bloodstream infections.

- Infectious Diseases consult strongly recommended.
