- Gram positive short bacilli - become coccoid in culture (aerobic)
Clinical Significance
This is a soil organism.
It has rarely been associated with bacteremia, urinary tract and implant/medical device or catheter related infections.
Usual Susceptibility Pattern
These organisms are typically susceptible to penicillin and vancomycin.
Susceptibility to cephalosporins is variable.
They are usually resistant to quinolones and aminoglycosides.
