- Self-limiting. Usual duration of diarrhea 3-5 days.
- Persistent diarrhea suggests protozoal causes: Giardia, Cryptosporidium, Cyclospora, Entamoeba histolytica, Microsporidia. See Treatment of Enteric Parasitic Infections.
