- Trichomoniasis may be associated with:
premature rupture of membranes (PROM)
preterm birth
low birth weight
HIV transmission
PID
- Treat all cases and their sexual partners regardless of symptoms.
- For metronidazole allergy/intolerance, see Am J Obstet Gynecol 2008;198:370.e1-7 for incremental dosing protocol for metronidazole.
- Some (~5%) metronidazole resistance.
