• Gram negative bacilli - nonfermenter

Clinical Significance

These are soil organisms that degrade hydrocarbons.

They have been associated with CAPD peritonitis. 

Usual Susceptibility Pattern

These organisms are typically susceptible to aminoglycosides, TMP/SMX, and tetracycline. 

Susceptibility to beta lactam agents and quinolones is variable.
