Monitoring is strongly recommended as patients may be more prone to nephro- or ototoxicity. See Aminoglycoside (AG) Dosing and Monitoring Guidelines. An increase in dose may be required to compensate for increased volume of distribution (Vd) because of ascites. Cannot use extended interval AG nomogram to interpret levels in these patients due to higher Vd. |
