- Symptoms of discomfort/pain in pelvic region for at least 3 months in the absence of uropathogenic bacteria.

- The use of antibiotics in this condition is controversial. Some experts recommend a single 4 week course of antibiotics. Repeat courses of antibiotics are not indicated.
