If patient has not received at least one dose of ceftriaxone, give rifampin x 2 days or ciprofloxacin x 1 dose to eradicate oropharyngeal carriage.  For dosages, and prophylaxis for close contacts, see Prophylaxis for Contacts of Communicable Diseases.
